Criminal Cases in the Churchill County Courts
Churchill County criminal court cases are divided by jurisdiction. The Tenth Judicial District Court hears felonies, gross misdemeanors, and appeals from the lower courts. New River Township Justice Court handles misdemeanor trials and the first steps in felony and gross misdemeanor matters, including preliminary examinations. Nevada's NRS Chapter 193 defines the felony, gross-misdemeanor, and misdemeanor classes that help set that court split. Fallon Municipal Court keeps a separate docket for city ordinance cases and misdemeanors within its authority. A name may therefore require three Churchill County court inquiries. The county Clerk-Treasurer is not the clerk for these District Court criminal files, despite the similar title.

A Fallon arrest can begin in Municipal Court, a county misdemeanor can remain in Justice Court, and a felony can move from a preliminary hearing to District Court. Each clerk answers only for its own Churchill County docket.

Churchill County does not publish one official browser portal for all trial-level criminal cases. The dependable route is a clerk request. The District Court records page provides a record and JAVS recording process, and staff state that they will contact a requester within five working days. Give a narrow year range and exact document names when possible.

Churchill County Court Search Fees
Fee schedules differ by court. District Court lists a $0.50 charge for each name and year searched, plus $0.50 per copied page. Certification costs $3 in addition to copies, and a JAVS hearing disc costs $25. Its usual payment is a money order or cashier's check. Cash is accepted only for totals of $28 or less, and cards are not accepted.

Justice Court instead lists $1 for each name and year searched and $0.50 per copied page. Using the fee for the right Churchill County clerk prevents a short payment and delay.
A JAVS request is for a recorded hearing, not the whole Churchill County court file. Identify the case and hearing date so staff can locate the right recording. The $25 District Court disc charge should not be confused with the per-page copy fee or the added cost for a certified paper record. The case file can also flag an appeal, linked matter, sealing order, or redaction. It does not prove that every detail in an arrest report was filed in court.
Read Churchill County Case Outcomes
One Churchill County case can contain several charges with different results. Read each count, not just the overall status. A plea on one count may appear beside dismissed counts, while a judgment records the court's final action. These terms help decode that sequence:

Those entries reflect court-supervised programs, not a separate public criminal-history database.
Older Churchill County Court Records
County planning material says clerk records have been computerized since 1989. That date is a useful search boundary, not a promise that every later document is online. Churchill County does not offer a complete public trial-docket portal, so older material may require staff research in an archive.
If a clerk search returns no result, give alternate names, a tighter date span, and any old case or arrest number. Ask whether the file predates the electronic index and whether retrieval adds time or cost. A certified copy must still come from the court that holds the record. Do not substitute the Nevada appellate lookup, which covers the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals rather than every Churchill County trial case.
Federal Cases Outside Churchill Courts

Access & Restrictions
The Nevada Public Records Act starts from access unless another law makes material confidential. It does not force a Churchill County clerk to release sealed cases, juvenile files, protected victim data, medical information, or personal identifiers. A public docket may show redactions even when other parts of the case remain open.
Nevada sealing law in NRS Chapter 179 can remove a qualifying case from ordinary public access after an order is carried out. The county's October 2024 return notice says District Court moved back to the second floor at 73 N. Maine Street and Court Services returned to 71 N. Maine.
Call before a long rural trip. The District Court directory lists filing hours of 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays; staff phones are answered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Justice Court publishes longer weekday counter hours at its own building. The location check is part of a sound Churchill County case request because the two courts remain close but keep distinct files.
